Letter Zz is so fun! It is fun to say, it is fun to make the sound, and it is fun to draw. Letter Zz is a great way to finish up the alphabet!

Today for Letter Zz, we are using playdough to make things related to the letter. To begin, we need playdough in two colors. I chose to make black and white playdough, but you can make any two colors. You can use just a basic playdough recipe (or any of your favorite recipes):

Once the playdough is finished, you are ready for some fun! To start, try to make Letter Zz with your playdough. I made a big “Z” and a small “z.” I rolled the playdough into snakes to form my Z’s. What is another way you could make a Zz? Could you smash your playdough into a pancake and draw a Zz on it? Think of other ways to create a Letter Zz.

Now, try some zig-zags. How do they look? Can you make them in black AND white? I again rolled my playdough into snakes, but I bet you can think of other interesting ways to make zig-zags.

Can you make a cage for a zoo? I used my snakes to make a square and some bars. Count the bars. How many bars are on your cage? What animals can you put in your zoo? Can you make animals out of the playdough? Can you find animals in your house or cut some out of a magazine?

This one was challenging for me, but I bet you can do it… Can you make a zebra out of your black and white playdough? I made a zebra-like animal, but I am sure you can make one that looks even better. How many stripes does your zebra have?
